It used to work without a problem in iTerm, but it stopped working after the upgrade to Catalina. This method works fine in other apps that I use daily. I find this method to be faster and more accurate compared to holding my cursor at the bottom of the window and letting it automatically scroll. To finish the selection, I release all of my fingers from the trackpad. Continuing to keep my thumb held down, I drag my index finger to select more lines, and then I start scrolling by bringing my middle finger down onto the trackpad and making the scrolling gesture with my index and middle fingers. I have my index finger on the trackpad navigating the pointer, and I have my thumb resting on the bottom of the trackpad that I use to "click." When I make the selection, I hover over a word using my index finger and double-click the word using my thumb to select it, keeping my thumb held down. I'm also using a 2017 MacBook Pro, so the trackpad is the haptic style. First, in System Preferences -> Trackpad -> Point & Click, I have Tap to click disabled. Since everyone uses their trackpad a little differently and has different settings, let me try to describe what I'm doing more accurately. (Anecdotally, I'd say about 20% of the time.) Occasionally, the selection works as it should. What should have happened: The text should remain selected so that you can manipulate it (e.g., copy).įurther explanation: This bug is inconsistent, but it happens the majority of the time for me. What happened: Most of the time, my selection is immediately cleared. Release the click to finish your selection While continuing to hold down the last click, use two fingers to scroll to the bottom of the buffer (i.e., continue selecting text as you scroll toward the bottom) Double-click and hold on a word, then drag down a few lines to select some text
